YOU WILL BE LESS STRESSED
People with organised homes, less clutter and mess have lower cortisol levels than those who’s homes were messy and had unfinished projects. When we are surrounded by these things we are more likely to be fatigued, depressed and have higher cortisol levels. When we have high cortisol levels it amplifies the of feelings of being stressed. This alone should make you want to be more organised. TIP - Set your alarm for 30 minutes earlier than usual. Make your bed. Put a load of washing on. Take 10 minutes to fold the washing and put it away. YOU WILL EAT BETTER Organised people are more likely to choose healthier eating options, they’re likely to prepare meals and bring them for lunch. Unorganised people are more likely to buy their lunch because they don’t have the time to prepare. A study by the Association for Psychological Science found that people who worked in organised office spaces were twice as likely to choose an apple than those who worked in cluttered spaces. When we eat better we feel better! TIP – Once a week plan your meals for the week. Write a list of everything you need. Do the grocery shopping! YOU WILL SLEEP BETTER When you are organised you are less likely to be worrying about paying a bill just before bed or answering to messages you forgot about during the day. Doing these things before bed can leave us feeling anxious and thinking about other tasks we forgot to complete during the day. Organised people are more likely to read a book before bed therefore they are more relaxed before sleep and when we are relaxed it certainly aids our sleeping habits. TIP – Stick to the same time each night and head to bed with a book. Leave you phone away from the bedroom. YOU WILL HAVE MORE ENERGY Being in an organised environment gives us a natural boost of energy. By spending just 10 minutes organising something whether it be your desk, car or kitchen that alone will give you a natural energy boost. TIP – Allow yourself 10 minutes each day to organise something in your life. Maybe your desk is looking cluttered, you have a pile of washing that needs to be sorted. GO AND DO IT! YOU WILL HAVE MORE TIME FOR YOURSELF By having a planned schedule you will have more spare time. You will spend less time running around and more time doing stuff you love.
We could continue on with the many more benefits but we think you get the picture. Becoming organised has only positive effects on our lives and that alone should make us want to strive to become more organised and live a less “chaotic” life.
